The Historic Seminole Theatre is gearing up for a scorching hot summer. With the Seminole Theatre Players production of the massively successful Broadway hit musical 'In the Heights' opening their 2018 season and bringing with it a much needed Hispanic Presence to Homestead's growing art scene.

Conceived and composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, creator of Hamilton, In the Heights tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. In the Heights was the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.

Mickey McGuire (Executive Director of Seminole Theatre and 'In the Heights' Director) feels that this production will be an impactful one for the South FL community: "We believe our community is going to be very excited for 'In the Heights', because it's a show that features an extremely diverse cast (made up predominately of Latin-American performers). Patrons will be experiencing something a bit different...Latin, Pop & Hip Hop music/dance fused with traditional Broadway ballads.

The cast (consisting of 29 multitalented performers from across Miami-Dade County) have worked feverishly night/day, to assure that the public receives a powerful and entertaining show.

'In the Heights: The Broadway Musical' opens tonight at 8 pm, with additional shows on June 23, 24, 29, 30 and July 1. Ticket prices are $15. To reserve your seat(s), visit or call their Box Office at 786-650-2073.
